How much of what I write is real? More than I care to admit. Here's the deal though, I have two boys, they can be completely nutso, and more than a bit flaky.
This is Ty, our dog. The beautiful silvery shimmering armor you see is indeed two "build your own" kits of Aaron's Thinking Putty all mashed together. You'll read this story in book 7 (it comes out tomorrow, I'm so excited!), and yes, yes it's true. I had to shave him, the boys were in big time trouble. His fur has finally grown back though, he was ashamed to be seen in the yard for like a whole month.
The part in book 2 where Jed reminisces about how dumb Thomas can be? All of those things happened. He really did shoot my mom's duck with a BB gun, and he really did have to bring it home, clean it, and eat it.
My mother in law had a lovely caricature portrait made of my father in law. She set it on the table to remember to pick up a frame at the store. My son (and it's all the same son here) picked it up, taped it to a light pole outside and wrote "WANTED" across it.
And yes, we really do homeschool. NOT because my kids are nuts, but yeah, it probably saves me a lot of parent/teacher conferences.
