I can't deal with my fitted sheet getting tangled around me at night. It doesn't even have to be all the way tangled. It just has to get a bit loose, loose enough that it moves when I move, and my entire night's sleep is ruined. (read more)
I'm that person who puts the "A" in "Type A" personality. I need neat and orderly as much as (or more than) I need my next breath. I thrive on schedules, disarray sends me into....disarray, and if I don't get my eight hours, well, let's not talk about it.
Basically, my bed is my safe haven. All day long I homeschool my kids, write, quilt, clean all the stuff I cleaned the day before (because I had kids), and do all the things we do as parents. So when 7:00 p.m. hits (oh yes, judge me if you want, but I am in my bed around 7:00 every night), I am ready to get under my covers, watch some brain killing TV, read a book, and play Words With Friends while my husband spends an hour with the lunatics I birthed. When I get in bed at night, I need to know my fitted sheet isn't going anywhere. You'd think this wouldn't be a big deal, but it is! I can spend three or four hours a night sitting in bed while I chill, and if my sheet is wiggling and bunching, it's three or four hours of me adjusting things every few minutes. For some reason this was never a problem with our old mattress, but after having my second son (like a week after) my back was hurting so badly that I just could not deal for one more second. We bought a knock off Tempurpedic and it was amazing, all except the sheets wouldn't fit quite right. It's almost as though they are both too long and too short? Too big and too small? Whatever the reason, they'd pull up on the corners on my side, and completely off the corners on my husband's side, leading to a two a.m. session of trying to fix them while my 200 pound better half sleeps like a baby. The man is hard to move. Anyhow, I did some searching around and found all sorts of fixes for this. Everything from straps that go all the way across the bed, to, no kidding, bed suspenders. Those might actually work well, but I'm not buying anything that involves me having to move an entire king size mattress each time I change the sheets. THE FIX
Introducing, Bed Band!
I feel like I need a drumroll there. They really do deserve one. It's so easy! You start with your rumpled, not FITTING, fitted sheet, like so:
Grab a Bed Band (it comes with four) and clip it to one corner.
Pull it tight, bring it under the mattress and over to the corresponding corner, then clip the other end to the other edge of the corner.
That's it! You can't see it in the picture (because it's invisible once you do it), but there is a Bed Band clipped to each side of that corner. My sheet isn't going anywhere, and it's a breeze to remove. Just unclip one side and pull the sheet right off the bed to wash, change, etc.
Bed Band is also completely adjustable, with a push button slide that will let you loosen or tighten your band in seconds. Some of you might worry about the band ruining your sheets, but I've been using them for years and have never had any holes, rips, tears, snags, nothing. My sheets are perfect and work great until I'm ready to ditch them for a new color. If you're having trouble with your fitted sheet actually fitting, give this genius little gadget a try! Ty
