Book 11 comes out on Saturday! It's almost here! I know this because Amazon sent me an email this morning telling me I had 10 hours to upload the final version of the book.
What this means for you, if you reviewed and became a Tyrant, is that you *might* be in this book, or you might not, depending on when you added your review. See, Amazon takes your reviews, verifies that they're legitimate, then puts them up so I can see them. It takes a few days. And, since I've got a deadline for giving them the final copy of the book.....you see where the problem lies.
Don't worry, though! If you're not in this one, you'll be in the next one, check the 2nd to last page to see your name.
In other news, I've finished up a quilt I've been working on for awhile now. The difference between this one and the last few is that I did this one entirely on my domestic machine. It's a Bernina 930, and I used it to piece and quilt this almost 100 square inch quilt.
The past few have been given to a good friend (I'm looking at you, Jenny) from Come Quilt. She not only sells beautiful patterns and is a fantastic quilter, but she also offers longarm quilting services.
This time around though, I was determined to do this quilt on my own, which meant I was quilting it (sewing the top, batting, and backing together) all on my own. I think I'll make a post at a later date about how I did it, just in case there are any mommy readers who love quilting, but have 16 tops stashed away in their closet somewhere.
I think it turned out really well, and my niece loved it, so we're calling it a win!
Alright, that's all for this post!
It's official! Book 11 is up and ready for pre-order with a release date of Saturday, September 1st.
I'm putting the finishing touches on editing and illustration, but it's moving fast, and I'm excited to get it out there for all you Jumper fans!
I love that you'll get a look inside The Company as Jed figures out a way to rescue his friends. After all, there's a whole building full of secrets, a whole building that should be empty, in theory.....
The adventure continues, this time in Booga Booga, on September 1st!
The most important thing going on in my life today is NOT that I've finished writing book 11, no sir! The most important thing IS that we FINALLY got good internet out here in the sticks we call home. Maybe you've never done a speed test, maybe you've never felt the need to see if your internet really is as slow as it feels.
I have, many times, just so I can stare at the screen and go "Are you kidding me!?!? 1.5 down and .08 up!?!?". Yeah, that's not a typo, I'm talking .08, like not even 1, on a good day. This super slow internet has caused me more angst....but a couple of weeks ago it sent me on a late night mission to find something better, and I did! As of last Monday, we officially get 30 up and 30 down. I mean, WHAT WHAT!?!?
Life is better with fast internet, take it from me. Be thankful for your city-living-high-speeds. I know ours doesn't even touch the stuff people get with wired internet, but it's so much better than it was. So.Much.Better.
On to author news:
Book 11 is done! Well, in the most basic sense of the word. I've finished writing, and should start editing today. That'll take a few days, then I can add the pictures and put it out for publishing. I was aiming for a September 1st release date, that should be no problem. I might even put it out today for pre-order. I just wish I could figure out how to do pre-orders for paperback books. Amazon really needs to work on that (just in case you're reading this, Amazon).
The extremely talented lady I've got working on my book cover is almost done. Fun easter egg: for the next six books, if you place them side by side on your shelf, you'll see that the spines combine to make a picture of their own. She'll also be leaving a bit of space on each book so I can add a little "something extra", but that won't happen until I finish everything and see how I feel about the story.
Book 11 is my longest yet. I love the story it tells, the transition it makes, and the way things move along.
Finally, here's the bird helping me hash out the last chapter. His input was invaluable. :) Turns out, I ended up changing most of the paragraph in the picture, so, no spoilers, in case you were worried!
We've got a new addition to the family this past week. A pie Cockatiel that Jack has named Tuko after the character in "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". Side note, the character is actually spelled "Tuco", but Jack thought that looked too much like Taco. We've been talking for a few months about getting a pet that was just his. His to take care of, his to feed and water, his to raise, and us to pay for (you know that goes). I had birds growing up, or rather my sister had birds, and they were pretty cool, if a bit loud depending on the type, (I'm looking at you Finches), and my husband had a dove for more years than he can remember, so a bird became a good choice. We did consider a hamster, a rat, a gerbil, a guinea pig, and a parakeet, and I even left it alone for awhile to see if he'd just forget about it, but he didn't, and so here we are. So far, so good, but we're only 5 days in. I'm sure days of "did you water the bird?" and "No, you can't go play until you clean his cage", are in my near future.
On a related note, sort of, book 11 is coming right along! I say it's a related note because I actually had a part outlined in the book where a bird helps Jed get out of a bind, and Tuko was easily written in to that part, so keep an eye out for him, or tell your kids to keep an eye out for him!
I'm just about done with the book, which means I've got probably a weeks worth of writing to do, provided I write a chapter each day. After that, it's only about 3 days to edit and get the illustrations in, then it'll be ready to go!
I'm very excited for this spin off because I'm working with my super-awesome cover designer to make a puzzle out of the next 6 books. When you put the books together, you get to see the whole picture, very cool! I actually saw this on another series my mother in law gave to Jack years ago and I thought it was a wonderful idea, especially since most of the book sales are paperbacks. She and I have started that work already, so I should have all 6 covers ready to go long before all 6 books are written, that'll be a first!
Ty's Tyrants are moving along. I'm so excited to see the reviews on Amazon, the stars on Goodreads, and the new names added to the list. I'll be adding every single name in book 11 for anyone who has ever reviewed, so if you or your young reader has reviewed, tell them to look out for their name!
Alright, I'm off to write, but here's a picture of the new bird. Isn't he a cutie?
